Good luck on your quitting the smoking! I quit after 32 years! Yes you could be experiencing insomnia as a result. Go to local health food store and buy some
Melatonin 3. This is a natural sleep aid and it really works! You could also get some Valerian Root to help with nerves. Drink lots of water during the day. I made a pacifier from a drinking straw I cut it about the length of cigarette and I went through all of the smoking actions ( don't light it) and all of this helped me.Good luck! Your can do it!

A safe way is to take Nyquil or Tylenol PM. Of course there are other things like drinking alcohol until you get drowsy or taking prescription sleeping pills, but that leads to more addiction which is what you are trying to get away from. You could also try to get up and exercise about 20 minutes, that might work.

It could be nicotine withdrawal. If you can drink alcohol, try an old-fashioned nightcap; here's an actual recipe from an old drink recipe list:

No. 1025 - Nightcap: Half a pint of strong ale, a wineglass of brandy, four drops of essence of cloves, four lumps of sugar; make hot, drink slowly - and make haste into bed.

If you are quitting that slowly, it is highly unlikely to suddenly be a problem now. Take some melatonin. It is available as a dietary supplement in most pharmacies.
