I just found out Friday that I'm going to another baby. I had to see my doctor early because I had a stroke last year so it will put me in the high risk pregnancy catagory. She did an internal ultrasound but couldn't see the baby. She said I'm prob. just very early pregant, prob. about 4 weeks pregnant. How soon can the baby be detected on any ultrasound. Any info. would be helpful. I'm driving myself crazy over this. Thanks.

I had an internal ultrasound at five weeks and my doctor only saw the sac. At six weeks only he was able to see the baby...he pointed it out, but I couldn't really see it. I was able to see the flashing of the heartbeat though. And then from seven weeks until my last ultrasound at 10 weeks, I was able to see it as it was getting bigger.

I had an internal ultrasound at 7 weeks, 3 days. I saw my baby! :) I could even see his little heart beating! However.... before the ultrasound began, the doctor told me there was a chance they wouldn't see anything. So sometimes even 7 weeks is too early.

I had an internal ultrasound at 4 weeks and we could see the baby and his heart beating. It was pretty cool to see how small they start out.

I knew I was pregnant shortly before my period was due. So I had an early appointment to confirm the home pregnancy tests. At 5weeks you can see the lil spot and around 6wks you can see a heart beat. At 7weeks you can see something resembling a shrimp with a heart beat and you can actually get to hear it at that point. Best of luck to you :)

I had my first u/s at 8 weeks. Have you discussed being followed by a perinatologist (OB/GYN who specialized in high risk pregnancy) b/c of your medical history? I am 31 weeks and being followed by a high risk group b/c of my past medical history. I feel much more secure knowing that my doctors have extra experiences and schooling. Not to mention, their sonographers are also used to dealing with high risk women and babies!

At about 5 weeks so you're still a week early.
