I live in Florida right near all the theme parks and have been to them all many times. I think a fun vacation for kids could be:
Disney - 4 parks (Magic Kingdom, MGM, Epcot, Animal Kingdom) plus water parks, characters they know, great rides, fun for all ages.
Universal / Islands of Adventure - 2 parks, great rides, good shows, well known characters and movies, something for everyone
Busch Gardens - Great rides, lots of animals, very fun.
Sea World / Discovery Cove - Not too many rides, but an unforgettable experience. I will never forget swimming with the dolphins at Discovery Cove. Every kid should go at least once. Something completely different.
Not in Florida, but Hershey Park in Pennsylvania is also a fun vacation - very big park, tons of great rides, plus a tour of how chocolate is made, a Hershey store, and if you like you can stay at the Hershey hotel.

Anywhere in the world or what? There are "Six Flags" all over America...
How about Disneyland (Calif.), Walt Disney World Resort (Florida), Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Hong Kong, Tokyo DisneySea, Knott's Berry Farm (Calif.), Sea World, Universal Studios, ANY zoo...etc.

You can try Dorney Park in Allentown PA - rides plus a water park
Try Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, PA. Small zoo but good. Of Course theres always the shore...how about Knobles Park In Elysburg, PA? Good and old. The best place I think for younger kids is Dutch Wonderland out near York, PA.

Depending on the age of your child. A great way to get the most out of your vacation is to try a citypass to where ever you are going. The Citypass gets you into multiple entertainment spots and has something for everyone in the family. A sure bet to a great vacation.
I think Costco may sell the citypass.

Where are you located?
Bush Gardens is always nice, kinda a big zoo and amusement park combined.
Want to travel to Ohio? Cedar Point is the best amusement park in the world.
Of course there is always many of the Disney options.

dont know were you are from or what age your child is ( or you lol )..
try a visit to england one of our best amusement parks is called alton towers in staffordshire you could try a search on the internet.. whilst it is not the size of a usa park it boasts many attractions from white knickle rides to calm childrens rides it caters for all ages is a safe park with different areas marked out for your entertainment there is also alot of side shows going on and plenty of areeas to relax and eat also on the grounds is a hotel

well city walk is fun they have lots of stuff!!
the movies, food places, and then there is universial studios!!
Universial is the bomb!!!
