You can pretty much do what ever you want with your system, you will have to get creative but yes, you can put all of the laptops components inside a tower case, or you can do what I did with an old laptop system that I had, take all of your laptops components and put them inside a picture frame, the connect a bluetooth adapter, wireless mouse, wireless keyboard, and connected to my receiver and TV, and I got a Digital Picture Frame, a way to access all of my media (Music, Movies, Videos, Pictures) and display them on the TV or use the surround sound for music or Internet radio stations, so you can do pretty much whatever you want with some imagination and time, let me tell you what you cant do, this is pretty much on all laptops, is to upgrade your processor. But you can very easily upgrade your memory, hard drive and add wireless adapters.
Hope this helps.

Contrary to what all these people are saying, yes you can convert it. I'll tell you that there probably aren't going to sell any cases that will fit all the "junk" in the computer, but some sheet metal, a drill, and some inspiration can fix that. You'll need to find a 3rd party power supply such as the ones they sell for mini-itx motherboards (i.e. under 100w and with the right connector for your motherboard). I would personally suggest getting a docking bay and be happy.

No but laptops can be upgraded. Have your laptop hard disk replaced with a larger size of gigabytes. Most of the advance units of laptops today offers a better features. You can even use a lap link or a USB Cable to interchange your data from your desktop to your laptop and vice versa. Have you not known of that yet?

Well if you want to make a desktop out of a laptop why can't you just leave the lap top on a desk and pretend it's really a desktop, it's essentially the same thing.

If I understand your question, you want to convert a Laptop to a desktop form factor. I am sure it can be done with a bit of imagination and solder know-how. But the question is why? There does not appear to be any benefit exept to see if it can be done.

Um. Why?
If you've lost your power adapter it would be easier to just buy a new one, or a compatible one. If the power supply inside the laptop is broken, again... easier to just get it fixed.
I think there would be issues with the power connectors on the motherboard, etc. I don't think you would be able to get a PC power supply to hook it properly.
