Hi. I quit smoking last year for about 2 months (you will quit for good though!!!!). I never wanted to try to quit b/c of my fear of weight gain. In those 2 months, I actually lost 8lbs! I truly believe most of it is in your head and you can control it. The one thing I did notice though was that on the days that I was eating a lot, I was not drinking enough water. That really is the number one thing to do, lots and lots and lots of water! Other than that, I either had sugar free gum or sunflower seeds in my mouth constantly. Another thing I did was, every time the craving came, I just went for a walk or a job; anything to keep active. You can do it, good luck!!!! : )

well done you're doing really well. Don't worry too much about any possible weight gain, it is sooo much healthier for you than smoking. Try drinking fruit juices, cranberry is good or even squash like orange. Your body has a drop in sugar levels after giving up and it has to adjust, hence why you may feel like sweet things especially. Also lollie pops are really good, they also give the oral stimulation that could be a psychological withdrawal you may be suffering. Don't look back!

I cut a drinking straw about the length of a cigarette and I'd puff and draw and inhale the air I took in with that. It worked. I haven't smoked for 6&1/2 years now and I smoked for more than 30 years!

It will pass, I promise (not smoked for almost 2 years now). The best thing to do is get yourself food to hand which is healthy to nibble on. I used to carry around carrot or celery sticks and popcorn so that when my craving turned into a food craving I had something to eat which wasn't a doughnut!
Also, don't be too hard on yourself. Losing a bit of weight is going to be much easier than quitting smoking.

Hahahaha congrats!!! You know a lot of smokers usually are pretty small people mainly because they smoke so much that they lose appetite. Sometimes they can replace meals with a cigarette. Seriously. So now that you are not smoking you wanna eat like you used to when you was younger and didnt smoke. You just noticing it now because you may be concerned about possible weight problems later on, because remember when we were younger it was not bothering us. So guess what.....i wish i was in your shoes. Maybe i would of gained weight like i need to. Congrats on quitting!! How did you do it???? lol

When I stopped smoking, I ate loads too. Swap unhealthy foods for fruit, drink plenty of water which can help suppress your appetite or chew gum to occupy yourself. It does pass after a couple of weeks.

Try nibbling on healthy snacks. At the end of the day smoking is more unhealthy for you than a few months of snacking
