You mean did any WW2 'Nazi' generals become involved in the creation of post-WW2 West German armed forces?

Of course they did... still, best estimate, is that those army generals who survived, and who weren't 'snapped-up' by "Les Americains", spent a lot of time avoiding the then USSR. Still, there weren't that many.

But yes. Those who survived helped reform the army - with help from the Brits and the USA - because the Western world was frightened and terrorised by the notion of an all-powerful USSR.

Thus, the Cold War. And German troops became the backbone/support of NATO. And, if you look at your European history, almost all the West's troops are still in Germany...

Ironic, really,

Heinz Gunther Guderian ( not THE Guderian ) operation officer of the 116 panzer div. ( der windhund division ) in the bunderswehr he became the inspector of the panzertroops.

Gerhard Graf von Scherin general at the Italian front of the 90 panzer grenadier division. He became one of the persons that stood at the birth of the bundeswehr.

In fact there weren't many ex WW2 generals in active duty in the bundeswehr because - they where already to old when the new German army was formed ( in the early 1950 )
- they where ex SS generals
- they had been found guilty to war crimes.

Whermacht Commanders (German militia of WW2) were no longer hunted and tried. It became the NSDAP (Nazi) individuals and Waffen SS officials for his or her Crimes adverse to Humanity. The Allies executed some jap like PM Tojo for crimes, yet a number of the Human precise violators followed Bushido and dedicated Suicide on the end of the conflict. The Emporer became allowed in capacity because he did not do some thing incorrect, he became only a parent Head after the individuals remade the authorities (weight help plan in jap). -I have not heard of any German Commanders being hunted anymore, i ought to imagine maximum were deceased through now.

Yes and No, after World War II the German army was dissolved and purged of all Nazi era influence. However, you cannot unlearn history so I imagine they still study tactics from their past.
