Public Enemy came out during the golden age of hip-hop, '87-93. Their first album was Yo! Bumrush the Show, which was released in 1987 on Def Jam. Their most widely known release is the Fight the Power single, where Flav screams "Muthafu** him and John Wayne!!!" in regards to Elvis. Flav is the hypeman of the group and Chuck D is the frontman/writer for the group. Flav is not MC Hammer or RUN-DMC as I've heard a lot of corny white girls on my campus ask. Sad to see what happened to him though he used to be a good comical counterweight to Chuck D's militant/political lyrics, now he's just a trivia question and embarassment to hip-hop and black people.

fortunately, he is not that popular... the only reason people are talking about him these days is his participation in all the terrible reality shows he is on...
he is another no talent hack, and not very attractive either. I don't know what those girls see in him. yuck!

It is a big difference being popular and being the class clown. I wouldn't say he has ever been popular.
