Myself, I get too angry to turn the other cheek. I would like to say I am able to handle the situation with grace, but I'm afraid instead my inner trailer comes out. If you don't know what I mean watch a episode of Jerry Springer to get the gist of it. Yep, that's me minus the violence.

It depends on the person. It is ok to get mad at a person if he deserves it. In fact, sometimes it is the best course of action. If a person thinks you won't object to their insults they'll just push you further. Sometimes it is a good thing to push back.

Of course, you should gauge your reaction to the circumstance. If your boss insults you, your response should be carefully thought out so you cover your butt. If it is just a casual acquaintance, you can be more direct in your response.

Anger is a valid emotion, just like the rest. You can try to repress it, but that's not healthy. Of course, you should try to have some control over how you react to your emotions. A part of honesty is being honest about how you feel. Don't let your religious beliefs make you feel guilty for being human.

Consider the source. People who are idiots cannot insult me because their opinions simply do not matter. Just as I am not insulted when a donkey brays at me, I am not insulted when a two-legged jackass does likewise. If a fool calls me a fool, that is actually a compliment.
If a person I respect insults me, it is either in play, or it is something I need to look into to see if I deserve it and need to change something. I usually get around to this when I am done seething.
Turning the other cheek is excellent advice. What it means is not to let our selfish pride inflame us. It does not mean to be a doormat. We need to stand up for principles we believe in, and righteous anger is not evil, The hard part is to tell the difference. I believe insults are a good way to point out an absurdity.
Hope you do well, poopypants! (just joking)

Depends on the situation, and who is insulting you. If it is a same sex, same race insult, anything goes. If it is different sex, different race situation, If you are not a minority, it is better to turn the other cheek, as any common sense or intelligent reponse will get you in trouble. Even if you turn the other cheek you can be accused of demeaning the other person involved by ignoring them. You just have to pick the lesser of all evils, depending on the winds of political correctness, IF that does not offend anyone.

I will usually give my, your an idiot look, give a short laugh shake my head and then walk away.

If you do not fight back you get the better of the person who has just insulted you. People who openly insult you are looking for a reaction. By giving them a reaction you are playing right into exactly what they want.

Then later when they try to ask why I wasn't offended, I just simply say because how can a simple mind truly offend me?

Depends upon the severity of the insult and the person doing the insulting. My reaction vary between just ignoring the whole thing and throwing a Marcellus Wallace-style beat-down (blowtorch and pliers).

What you do is calm down and take some deep breathes and say to the person your just a waste of time or you rather than fighting you could say something that lets there guard down and make them feel bad.

No one can insult me unless I decide that I'm insulted. Generally people are insulted by others expression of their opinions. For example, if someone calls me stupid, they may be attempting to insult me.

Of course, I know that I'm not stupid, not a genius, but not stupid, either. I can only conclude, knowing what I know, that the person who is trying to insult me is operating on insufficient evidence. As a result, his or her opinion is meaningless.

i'm a pushover when it comes to fight. but then again not many people wanna fight me. i'm this fragile pacifist who's nice to everybody.
most of the time. i'm a looser in the physical violence dept but i can yell back. loudly. it just ends badly for everyone when the yelling starts, and so far i've been able to keep anyone from yelling, except the family members.

If someone is rude enough to insult instead of giving advice or just speaking to you about it, they aren't worth it.
