Yes, it's called anovulatory bleeding. When you ovulate progesterone stimulates the lining of the uterus to get thick and then it sheds about 2 weeks later (your period). If you don't ovulate then estrogen can thicken the uterine lining but usually not as thick as progesterone, and over time the lining gets so thick it must shed.

yes you can.
I sometimes don't ovulate but get my period and sometimes I don't get my period at all until my next cycle (in which I don't ovulate either)
but if you are going by opt you should know that they are only 90% accurate and bbt can be hard to read depending on all sorts of things, so you might have ovulated.

one of my friends is having trouble conceiving because her ovaries aren't releasing any eggs. She still has periods because the womb prepares itself every month as normal and the body has to get rid of the blood as normal if the is no conception.

Yes you can miss ovulation and still get your period. Your period is the shedding of the lining of your uterus.
