We are winning this war, right? We don't need another plan do we? Bush has it handled doesn't he? His plan (whatever it is) is all he needs to win his war. Don't worry about what dems think...he sure doesn't.

Right now the Democrats might not have specific details concerning winning the war effort, but at least they are moving in the right direction in that they are looking for dignified means out of this nightmare. Bush, also lacks specificity in his plan, or lack thereof, is doing far worse by moving in the wrong direction and further entrenching us in this lost cause by investing more troops in a war that is not salvageable.

I don’t really care for either party much, but at least the Democrats grew some sort of spin during State of Union address, as evidenced in their rebuttal to it. The Democratic position was well articulated, and cogently expressed how the war had nothing to do with war on terror or any other expressed reason (WMDs, Saddam vying for Middle Eastern hegemony, etc.), and that Bush and his cohorts deceived the American people and the world. They rightly demanded for milestones to be defined so there can be a relatively swift and gradual removal of troops and more authority handed over to the Iraqi government, regardless if they are ready or not. The longer we stay, the more we are just coddling them, and they will refuse to take up the mantle of responsibility for their own nation’s security.

Will Bush factor any suggestions from his detractors into the broader framework of his strategy to “win?” No! He will just be as oblivious as he always has been to the advice of others.

To answer your main question, people ask what opponents of Bush's plan would do instead for the same reason pro-choice types frequently ask pro-life types what will be done with the 'unwanted" children born if abortion were banned.

In each case, it's not terribly helpful to criticize the policy without offering an alternative. Saying "don't do this" naturally leads to the response of "what should we do instead?"

We have already won the war,we are now attempting to assist the Iraqi people in setting up their Democracy and establish the ability to protect their citizens. Leaving before the job is completed is typical of the democratic Party. i understand that you must follow their talking points but deep down you know the President is right and will leave Iraq when they can survive on their own. You need to look at the Millions of South Viet Nameese who were killed when we were forced to leave because of political pressure!!

What is their plan?

They just want to drag their feet so that this is still an issue in 2008.

Anti-Bush sentiment is the main component of their platform.

Reed's plan looks good, and might work but I guess it's to realistic for Bush to consider, and it don't include cutting and run.

Bush doesn't have a plan other than to start WW III and to take the money and run.

I agree. Besides, the dems never come up with an idea on their own. it's always a version of something someone said, or something they overheard.. very few facts involved...
