Karzai claims the drugs are funding the Taliban, so why wont he eradicate all the crops? Could it be that Karzai is making so much money off the drugs he doesn't want to stop them?

Of course. Poppy is Afghanistan's largest cash crop, their second largest export is hampsters, and there is no markup on hampsters.

I think it's more like he turns a blind eye to them for now while they deal with the Taliban. I think once Afghanistan has calmed down, they'll go after the poppy farmers next. Although you do make an excellent point: if it's funding the Taliban, cut the supply line now.

I think he is still mad at us for spraying their crops without his knowledge. It is a turf war and I don't blame him!
