UPDATE:
EXCLUSIVE -- BRANDY ADMITTED FAULT AT SCENE
Brandy In an exclusive conversation with the man driving directly behind Brandy at the time of her fateful crash, TMZ has learned that the singer repeatedly blamed herself at the scene of the accident.
"She got upset, talking about how it was all her fault ... she didn't stop, kept saying how she hit the lady," says the witness.
He added, "Brandy walked in front of traffic, crossing the lanes of speeding cars, then she did it again. People were honking at her to get out of the road. She was obviously disoriented and highly upset."
The witness also claims he tried to calm the hysterical singer, and even dished out some legal advice, saying he advised her to stop admitting guilt. He also consoled her by repeatedly saying "It was an accident."
The witness also claims he went over to check on the woman in the Toyota, but couldn't find a pulse.
TMZ has learned R&B sensation Brandy was involved in a fatal accident last month, and it appears to be her fault.
It happened at 10:30 AM on December 30, 2006 on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Brandy was driving her 2007 Land Rover at 65 mph and did not notice that cars in front of her had slowed considerably. We're told Brandy's vehicle struck a 2005 Toyota. The Toyota then hit a 1989 Toyota. The 2005 Toyota then slid sideways and hit the center divider. As the 2005 Toyota came to a halt, it was struck by a 1988 Acura.
In a statement to TMZ from Brandy's publicist, Courtney Barnes, the singer confirmed her involement in a fatal crash: Brandy was involved in a car accident December 30, 2006 in Los Angeles where there was a fatality. She wishes to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased. Brandy asks that you respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time.
We're told the driver of the 2005 Toyota, Awatef Aboudihaj, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in critical condition and she died the next day. Aboudihaj, a 38-year-old married mother of one, was a Los Angeles resident.
Brandy was not injured. The driver of the Acura suffered moderate injuries.
Brandy was not arrested and there is no evidence drugs or alcohol were involved.

Singer Brandy Involved in Fatal Car Crash
By STEVE GORMAN, Reuters
LOS ANGELES (Jan. 25) - Actress and R&B singer Brandy was involved in a fatal, four-car accident on a Los Angeles freeway last month that started when her sports utility vehicle hit another car, police said on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old former star of the TV comedy "Moesha" was not injured, but the driver of the car she rear-ended with her Land Rover in the December 30 crash died, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victim was identified as Awatef Aboudihaj, 38, a married mother of one, said CHP spokesman Leland Tang.
No charges or arrests have been made in connection with the accident, and no formal determination has been made as to what caused the crash, which was first reported by the celebrity news Web site TMZ.com.
A statement issued by Brandy's publicist said: "She wishes to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased" and asks the media to "respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time."
The singer-actress, whose full name is Brandy Norwood, was alone in her vehicle and no alcohol or drugs were involved, Tang said.
A Statement From Brandy's Publicist
"Brandy was involved in a car accident December 30, 2006 in Los Angeles where there was a fatality. She wished to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased. Brandy asks that you respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time."
Brandy told officers she was driving at about 65 miles per hour before the crash occurred.
"We've impounded all four vehicles, and the outcome of the mechanical inspection is coming to us today or tomorrow," Tang said. "Barring any mechanical difficulties on Brandy's part ... then there's the very high probability that she is the party most at fault or the contributing party."
Brandy, a native of Mississippi, burst on the recording scene with her self-tilted debut album in 1994, launching such hits as "I Wanna Be Down," "Baby" and "Brokenhearted." Her fourth album, "Afrodisiac," was released in 2004 with a lead single, "Talk About Our Love," produced by Kanye West.
Last year, she served on the panel of judges for NBC's summer show "America's Got Talent."

I read that Brandy was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident. Right now they are investigating if she had any mechanical failures in her car.

In the story I read yesterday on it, she had not used alcohol nor drugs. Sometimes s*** happens. Most likely, she just wasn't paying attention to what was going on in front of her. It seems mroe and more people rarely do - that and they want to be so close to your bumper they may as well be driving your car for you.

I have been surfing online more than four hours today seeking the answer to the same question, but I haven't found any interesting discussion like this. It's pretty worth enough for me.

NO. She would have been charged already if she was under the influence of anything. It was either mechanical or driver failure that caused it.. That is what they are checking into now.

Wow, I never even heard that. Where did you hear that? She probably was drunk if she hit the car hard enough to kill someone.
