Most definately it would be to die against your will.
Say...you are accused of a crime and found guilty, even though you are innocent and would never do something so horrible. You are one of the most innocent people, but the government finds you guilty anyway. The gov't controls your life, really. So they give you the death sentence. And they hang you. Imagine the suspense of walking to the place they do it, them putting the rope around your neck, slowly, tightening it. And you can't do anything to stop it. It's not fair. It's torture. They are ending your life for no reason. =(

All of the ones you have mentioned are pretty horrible. Maybe being mauled by something like a shark or a lion would be the worst. Mind you a lion will kill you quickly by suffocation whereas the shark will probably being to eat you when you are still alive...
That is a really disturbing question lol

Dying In ignorance and not appreciating the life you have is one. Living without a cause or never having done not one thing to improve society is a form of living Zombism! What you mention is horrible as well.

i read an entry once in the encyclopedia of torture that was pretty horrible. a person would be strapped down to a table. rats would be place on his belly. A cone made of flammable material would be place on top of the person so as to trap the rats in the wider end of the cone. the top of the cone would be set aflame. at this point, in a panic, the rats would begin to eat their way to safety by starting to eat into the captive's guts. pretty gruesome.

When it is accompanied by pain, suffering, and a feeling of helplessness it is probably the worst. Protracted bout with cancer crosses my mind. The ones you mentioned are relatively quick anyway.

The ending in the movie, Bravehart, was pretty darn gruesome to me. Being tortured and disembowled in front of a cheering crowd is a bad way to go.
