All of these people had some good ideas, Roo in particular. The best way to ensure good results on math exams is to do your homework, study in detail concepts and ideas which you find particularly difficult, ask for help from your teacher or fellow students you know are good at math, and use outside resources whenever possible to get a perspective that you may not be provided in class. Sometimes what a teacher, a fellow student or math text does not explain clearly will be by another source.

Try to study in a relaxed atmosphere and in a relaxed manner. Formality is not always the best method for absorbing and retaining information. I can remember studying for my comprehensive Biology final in high school by lying prone on my bed while reading from my text which I had placed on the floor next to it. I covered the major points, and some concepts in detail which I had trouble remembering or comprehending chapter by chapter until I had reviewed the entire book, a process which took hours. Then, after I had assured myself that I knew the material pretty well, I simply forgot about it for the rest of the day. When I got my test results back, I was startled to learn that I had scored 96 out of a possible 102 points on the exam. By the way, I have also employed this method using my math book, while stopping occasionally to work problems to help reinforce my understanding of difficult ideas or concepts.

On the day of the exam, don't get tensed up. If you have done your best to prepare and have studied thoroughly, there is no reason to panic. It's only an exam, and your world won't end if you don't ace it. There will be plenty of future opportunities to prove yourself.

When you get your exam paper, scan quickly through it and mentally sort the problems into 3 categories: easy, moderately easy and difficult to extemely difficult. Do the easy ones first, then move on to the moderately easy. Finally, after completing those, move on to the others. There is nothing to be gained by focusing on difficult problems, wasting time and losing points which you could have easily acquired by doing the other problems first. Also, there is an added benefit to tackling a math exam like this. By scanning the test first, the subconcious mind can and often does work on problems which you might initially interpret as difficult. Then, when you finally do get to those harder problems, you may suddenly find yourself having a eureka moment, and everything comes together in a flash, enabling you to easily complete the exam.

Hope these tips help you in some way. Good luck in your continuing study of mathematics.

The biggest exam I had to take, I studied like crazy (on a Saturday) two days before the exam. I covered everything, and reviewed carefully the things that were "memorization only" [there were some paragraph answers that we had to learn]. The next day, Sunday, I did not look at anything regarding this whatsoever. I hung out with the family and rested. I got a good night's sleep that night.

Monday was test day. I got the highest score, acing 3 sections out of 9. This was the Naval Nuclear Power School final.

Sometimes people aren't so good at taking tests. They might get too nervous. Some of the best things to do are:

Practice (as another answerer said)

Get a good night's sleep the night before the exam. Trying to take tests when you are tired and irritable can really wreck your concentration.

Be sure to eat a good breakfast. Taking tests on an empty stomach can hinder your concentration.

Take your time and pay attention to detail. You don't have to be the first one to finish the exam. Allow yourself time to fully understand the problems before solving them.

If you can't figure out a problem, skip it. Finish the other problems first, then come back to that problem.

I used to get nervous about taking exams, but these techniques really helped to ease my stress. I think they could help you too. Good luck!

The only key to crack your Maths Exams is Practice. Practice at least 15 questions per day. Try to understand the concepts & do not rote them. Keep your mind calm during the exam. This would add a lot to your confidence & accuracy

JUs work out a particular sum yourself, repeat it such that u are confident with that, rather than mugging up, jus learn the moves, and steps to be repeated, do u make silly mistakes without ur knowledge? in that case, try to finish the paper quickly during exams and check ur answers,

First practice the problems and learn how to use backwards methods to re-check your work, for example: substituting answers back into the equation and so forth.
