I have a Sony Viao PCG-731 that was given to me by a relative for free. It has a 200mhz processor, two 64MB sticks, and Microsoft 2000 on it. I have cleared out most of the memory and save my files to my 512MB USB. The question I have is that I want to watch downloadable video with ease. I know it is an older laptop and am not expecting too much out of it. I only use it for the internet and some word documents and would like to be able to watch some video clips. It plays video clips but it is very choppy (plays then pauses for a moment and then plays some more). Plus some clips play better than others (why?). I would like to know if there is a program that I can download or something to make this work easier? Is there anything I can do to the settings that might help (I have Windows Media, Quick Time, and Real Player)? What about a video card (would my laptop support one?)? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

200 mhz processor ?
u mean it's a pentium 1 or something

& u mention windows 2000 as operating system, if i understand correct !

nothing much u can expect to add / upgrade in u'r system

use it for ms office, i mean 'word', excel ... + internet

only solution i can see for you is going down with your operating system > win 2000 to win me or win 98
may bring about marginally better video quality

dunno if u have the disks / support .... but i doubt win 2000 as os for a 200 mhz processor ... plz confirm
> too heavy on u'r system !

ram u've reached max. supported ie. 128 mb
settings for viewing: minimum posible window / video screen &
lowest bit rate / quality

Your not going to play videos perfectly with a 200 mhz processor.

I have a Dell CPi Pentium 2 Laptop with 400 Mhz and 256 MB of RAM it can get a little choppy on videos sometimes. I don't think there's much hope of perfect video playing for you.

I would just say get a little more RAM make sure your internet is fast and make sure u get the lowest quality of videos possible.

thats why sometimes it worse than others, some videos are high quality than others. higher qulity will look better but run very slow and choppy and low quality will run better but look very choppy.

well, the answer is simple, your internet speeds are damn slow and thats why the video stream keeps on buffering and delaying, I would advise you to confirm proper internet speeds from your ISP , or make sure that your computer is fast enough, but mostly , the problem is with your internet service provider Thanks
