Ha ha.. apparently not according to one of the chicks that came on yesterday.. but she of course was completely NUTS.
Although some of the people I believe passed because of looks rather than talent.. all in all you do have to be a decent singer to get onto the show.

To be on American Idol, yes, you do have to be a singer. To be AN American Idol, you can be any kind of celebrity.

Hmmm well you have to be able to sing but it is a matter of perception as to how good of a singer you need to be in order to win. I have not always enjoyed the singing abilities of some of the past winners.

If you are referring to getting picked to go to Hollywood by Simon, Paula and Randy...YES!!! If you notice, the ones they pick sing and sing at least OK, those people that try to dance and sing...NEVER make it..those that dress in some costume NEVER make it...to make it you need to be able to sing well...concentrate on the singing, forget the dancing and juggling and other BS that those that have no chance of being selected do.

I would have thought so but then again having heard some of the dross performed on the British version, having someone who could sing would be a novelty!
