Why are people so critical of the Bible??

Yes, to question is natural, but I was always taught that you don't question God's word. However, many people make the Bible seem evil and untrue.

Because it's being used to harass, offend, and abuse people who don't hold the belief that it's divinely inspired or that don't agree with the interpretation of the person doing the harassing, abusing, or offending.

If everyone's opinion about the bible was keep personally, then I'd not have any problem with it, whatsoever. That said, I can find half a dozen people, here, at any one time, who are trying to use the bible to tell others they are sinners, wrong, going to hell, etc.

I think if everyone would take the statement "He who is without sin, cast the first stone" to heart, you'd have extremely few who said anything about it.

In your question, you give a good hint as to why many people are critical of the bible. You say it's all God's word. Many, for good reason question that. Gods don't write books. Everything in the Bible, the Torah,the Koran, and all other "holy" books was written by common, ordinary, everyday people.
Influenced by God is only a belief, not a fact.

questioning is good. People are critical of everything, especially others. peoples spelling etc. No one ever takes in that someone isn't as good as someone else.

questioning literature of any kind is a good thing- developing your own thought process based on what you read is an important skill. to question things, in all forms, is intelligence.

Because the book attempts to tell me what to do, how to do it, when to do it and why to do it. Supposedly the word of God when its just a mishmash of old times stories not much different from Zues and other mythology except no one expects me to worship Zues.
