You know I think the best place to start a career in real estate is actually the real estate company that you would like to work. Most real estate companies actually offer rather cheap courses that educate you on the involvements of the business. After the course is completed you can take your exams and get your certification. In my area it is less than $500 (USD) for the entire course and lasts a few months. Plus, you would get connections into the industry! Networking is priceless in the real estate industry!

Whatever state or province you live in is the authority on licensing those schools so their website has links and contacts for accredited Real Estate schools. So go to Yahoo!'s home page and type in "______________(your state) Professional Licensing" Real Estate and follow your results.
