My two month old has been sleeping great in her crib at night and then all of a sudden she is getting this stuffy nose every time she lays down in her crib. She is finer during the day but when night come and she has to lay on her back in the crib she has trouble breathing. I do not want her to get used to sleeping in her bouncer (that is what she has been doing the last two nights) and the humidifer just seems to make the room chilly. Any Suggestions? Thanks!

its common for little ones (newborns ) to become stuffy at night when they are laying flat. i put a pilllow under the mattress to create a small incline (not under the babby but the mattress) they also sale inclines now, my friend just bought one and said it works great. you can get them at baby-r-us or certain large department stores. try it it helps

Have you introduced anything into her diet via her feed (if breastmilk is mum taking more dairy or other allergy inducing foods?)?
Stuffy nose is a real pain as it makes the baby restless and would worry you!
I can recommend putting a bowl of hot water with a few drops of a decongestant (make sure it is not parked too close to her and/or that it is baby friendly as some are too strong for babies' nasal tissue).
I had this problem with my girl (now 15) from about 2 years onward and was able to give her a decongestant- not an option for you!
A little Vicks Vapour Rub is what my brother used to get out in India where we grew up...

I was actually just going to post the same question. My daughter is 3 months old. The past 3-4 nights she has woken up all stuffed up.
My father in law said not to put a humidifier in her room as they carry bacteria. He suggested putting a bowl of water on her heat vent (this was yesterday). I didn't do it when I put her to bed but at 5 when she woke up to eat she was stuffy. That's when I did it and she didn't wake up stuffy.
I'm gonna refill the bowl tonight and see if that helps. It's worth a shot though :)

Try elevating the head of her mattress a tad. Stick a bowl of water in front of the heating register in her room as well. If she is very congested use saline and a bulb syringe to help clear her out. Ped's reccomend NOT giving a decongestant to younger babies and children.
Edit to answer your other question: Yes, just a glass bowl and I would put it in front of the heating duct/vent. It's safe :)

Believe me, I know what you're going through. Try using 2 or 3 thick pillows and keep your head elevated off of your bed. Or, try putting saltwater on the sinuses of your nose. This you can also do when you're sick with a cold or whatever. Hope this helped!

You need to invest in a warm mist humidifier. It steams the room with warm air, and will keep the congestion to a minimum. Cold air ones seem to be a thing of the past. Try the warm one & see if that helps.
Good Luck!!

What sounds like a stuffy nose is a nostril blocked with boogers. Get a GOOD aspirator (SURPRISINGLY HARD TO FIND!!!) and snatch out those suckers. If your baby stays stone still while you pick at her face, you can get some smooth tipped tweezers...but I don't want to encourage it if you don't have a very still cooperative baby and a very very still, exacting hand. Pull em out. She may have allergies/sinus issues, too. Talk to your doctor who can be a tremendous help on this matter. Also try http://www.babycenter.com

Vicks makes a run that is specifically for babies under 6 months. Rub a little on her chest at night. It helps a lot.

Try putting a thick book under her mattress to prop her head, that helped with my son when he was that age. You could also use a warm mist humidifier with Vick's, or the Vick's plug ins.
