First off, you aren't really shy. What you are is afraid. You have a deep seeded fear of rejection. The reason alot of people don't go up and talk to strangers is because they are afraid that this person will shrug them off (i.e. rejection). You need to understand that most people who are outgoing have had their shares of failures as well and they know that they may fail again. And when they do fail they know they will survive and they will move on to another challenge.
