The absence of coercion. Peace is when force is used only defensively, to prevent others' offensive use of force.

It is not the absence of violence, as this can be achieved simply by submission. Hitler invaded many countries without firing a shot - that doesn't mean there was peace. By the same token, giving away land and tens of billions of foreign aid dollars to bribe middle eastern government to keep some semblance of a rein on suicide bombers and other terrorists is not peace.

But then, the "religion of peace" follows a book that instructs them to kill everyone else. I suppose once they've done this, they think that will bring about peace....

Peace is complete order from everyone's point of view. When there is peace, there cannot be chaos. It's impossible, really, and besides, it's kinda boring. Everyone needs a little chaos...

In its simplest form, peace is an absence of war and conflict. But in order to have that worldwide...it needs to be addressed at home. In each country. We need to live together and accept eachother. We need to help eachother. No one should go without healthcare because they can't afford it. No one should be able to tell another how they should feel, who they can love and who they can marry.

Peace, to me, is acceptance and love between mankind.

It is simply the absence of war. Screw justice and oppression and torture and rape and genocide.

As long as there is no war, there is peace.
