Love does hurt. It is that way when you are dealing with emotions. But, if you can love with an open heart and have NO expectations - then the hurt won't be there. It is when we don't get our expectations met that is painful. Pure love is unconditional and accepting. It is hard for people to have such open hearts in a world that is full of disappointment. So try to love completely and have no expectations - if it doesn't work then it wasn't meant to.

It seems that way for me. The men I have loved have been either taken away from me by death or have a tortured soul that doesn't belong to me and can't heal from drugs and life.

because you can't have one without the other. in order to feel the greatest of love you have to feel what pain really is. like in order to be strong you have to have moments of weakness.
