I hope this is not a strange question, I saw a bio of a gay aquaintance and I am not sure if that means he has AIDS or not. I am not close enough to ask him, but I am close enough to care and covertly offer support. Just wondered if anyone had any idea?

I have no more details other then 'Into HIV'.
Also, I am asking a sincere question.

I'm sorry, it has no meaning to myself or to my partner of 15 years (I just called his office to ask.) I have to prepare for my first appointments of the day -- but I have no idea what it means. It might mean that he raises money for AID's charities. It might mean he is HIV+ -- it might mean he tries to help people with HIV. It might even mean, I suppose, that -- oh, I can't imagine beyond that, but I'm sure there are more possibilities.
Regards,
Reyn

I hope not to come across as ignorant, but I heard it on TV that some gay oriented males were purposely trying to get infected with the AIDS virus (yes I know it sounds crazy, but you read right) from their partners because such an act would make them "fit" in as a more acceptable group amongst themselves.
It is a new form of males that have long term relationships with each other,to show ,not only loyalty but affection as well. They feel that you are NOT truly gay, unless you have HIV or AIDS,thus gentlemen with the HIV virus are actually becoming highly desirable in some gay communities, all of this perhaps to give more strength to the often used term the "gay plague" as AIDS is very crudely recognized by many straight citizens who fear homosexuals and consider them different.

Those couple/hookup websites don't always think of everything. He probably checked the box that says he's HIV + and it just dropped down in the "Into" section of the profile. I don't know without seeing the profile of course, but this is my best and most logical guess.

I can imagine it being one of two things
1) he's a HIV chaser (seeking to contract HIV) - which I would find confounding OR
2) he's looking for partners with HIV to love and support...

His statement 'into HIV' does not make sense.
You need to clarify this issue and then re-ask your question from an informed basis.
Otherwise, the possibilities for info in one direction or the other are infinitely endless.

There are actually guys called "bug chasers" who , for whatever reason, specifically try to get HIV. (probably the same ones who complain that not enough money is given to AIDS research.) It's sad and stupid, as AIDS has become completely preventable for anyone with common sense.

I think it means he is not opposed to have a relationship with a HIV infected person.
