I don't understand how anyone can be against the Christian faith? when their teachings say to obey the law , treat one another as you would have them treat you, just read the 10 basic commandments, I know there are other religions who teach the same basic principles and I have no problem with them , but, when religion says to kill or so many other bad things how can anyone uphold such teachings, and if you don't believe in god or any other decent life style, how can you be against the christian way?? unless of course you want to use the excuse Christians did this or that 100s of years ago, when not any of us really know the real history, these wars could have been fought over a number of things but, religion got blamed, even if history is right I am referring to here and now, not some thing that happened so far in the past no one knows the real reasons, or maybe your life is so full of B,S, or you are hiding some thing and want it to be justified then maybe you have cause to condemn.

if you are a homosexual, a theif, murder, or have did any of the things the Christian faith is against then I can see why you would be so much against christianity, but, if you want to live a clean decent life and raise a law abiding honest family what is a better way, even if you are a atheist?

auntie s, I am truely sorry you have had such a terrible experience with youe ex, but, surely you do know that there are some idiots in the church same as there are every where else in all walks of life, I have seen this and it is against bibical teachings, being a christian is trying to be like christ, and at no time did christ ever pull such a stunt, please don't judge alll others by some one who is for lack of a better term a idiot, and please 'note' I didn't say I was a christian, but, Ido believe in the tenants of the christian faith,
F,Y,I, catholics are also christians so is every one else who accepts Christ Jesus as their savior, and I repeat we would have a better world if we all lived by the tenants of the Christian faith, how can anyone dispute that?

Here's the quick version. Our country was founded on the Christian belief system. As our society decays and slips further and further into chaos, naturally, low moral liberals will want to tear down that belief system so they can justify their immoral lifestyles. Deep down, they know what they are doing is wrong according to what the Bible teaches so the easiest way to not have to feel convicted, is to tear down and destroy Christianity. If you read your Bible then you know all of this was written in prophecy. If you outlaw God, then Satan and evil moves in. Take a look at our public school's, we kicked God out by not allowing prayer and now our public school systems are all messed up and lacking discipline. You do not see any other religions on the planet getting a bum rap like Christianity does so that should tell you something.

I can not see any thing wrong with the christian faith nor its teachings, and find it is a good princiable to live by, I do realize there are some who take advantage of Christianity by pretending to be believers and conning people out of their money etc, but, those are con men who would also con you on something else or any and every thing, they are just plain crooks, and yes there have been crusades etc, and I do believe they were wrong , however we are not sure these wars etc, were for Christianity , we are talking about here and now, if every one abided by the 10 basic commandments, how could you deny this would be a better world, is this plain and simple?

Interesting question. Answer: do you mean "what is wrong with the faith of the Christian" or do you mean "what is wrong with the religion of Christianity"( which is, of course, a misnomer because Christianity is not a religion, man's idea of God). The first thesis is about the man, the second is about the God. I know what you mean though by your question. When we talk about religion we need to be very specific so we're not misunderstood by the unbeliever. I'm just a Bible believing old grandma who one day realized my sinful condition and asked Jesus to save my soul from the judgement that was coming and He did it and I believe Him.
Back to your question. You mentioned the religions that teach killing. Generally the religion itself doesn't teach killing, but men who have their own agenda are forever, and have throughout history, twisting religion to accomplish that agenda. One example is the Crusades of England. Remember in the old Testament, God Himself ordered His people(The Jewish Nation) to kill all the pagans when they came into the promised land. He just did not tolerate unbelievers. You know--the first commandment and such. He's still pretty much that way(God doesn't change)but He sent His one & only Son to die for us...He followed His plan to include an age of grace before the final judgement of mankind. During this period of timeHe sent the Holy Spirit to convict men of their condition and has allowed men to come to Him freely of their own choice for salvation. He does't force the issue, so in a sense man is responsible for his own condemnation to hell by the choice he, himself makes...to believe God or not. I'm so glad we live in this time of grace or I might have been zapped back when God did a lot of zapping - the Old Testament.
But I wander again. I'm sorry, but I've always had a problem condensing what I mean to say. Please bear with me.
Well, there is nothing wrong with Christianity. Jesus warned believers they would be persecuted because of Him. It is Him people reject. It is Him they wish to wipe out. The great thing is that He can't be destroyed. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God." John 1:1,2 If Jesus(the Word) was with God in the beginning and has endured through the ages, we can be confident a few wacky religious zealots won't wipe Him out. The fact is, Satan knows he has no chance, so he gets his kicks out of causing havac wherever he can...and of course he delights in keeping someone from believing God and receiving His Son as their Saviour. Misery loves company.
Well, to understand what's going on, you have to separate the man and the God and the religion from each other and figure out who's in control...the man, God, or the man's real beliefs. We are what we believe. If it doesn't come from the Word then we can figure out it's not from the true and living God. And even if someone says it comes from the Word, make sure it's not being twisted to suit their agenda. God will open the Scriptures to anyone who sincerely seeks Him and seeks to know Him. Otherwise, the scriptures can be a mystery. And there will always be those who use scripture and religion to their own agenda. And there will always be those who love "religion"more than God &
be willing to follow a lie rather than the Truth. Our job is to seek God's Truth everyday, to do His will everyday, to seek forgiveness when we fall short, and to always share the Gospel wherever there are lost souls and don't be surprised about those who despise Christianity.
I'm assuming that you are a Christian yourself and I've gone into detail mostly on behalf of those who may not know Christ on a personal basis and will read this. I really love my Saviour and like to discuss Him. I think you raised a good question for today and can't wait to hear the different responses. Thanks and God bless you.

If a person finds peace in a religion, and doesn't use it to hurt a non-believer, or an apostate, then I"M FOR IT.
But very few believers in one sect give non-interference in the life's of others. Just the fact someone assumes to know GOD'S thought and rewards, doesn't mean it true.
Usually, here in US, people leave people of other faiths or religions to their beliefs, even if they are sure their way guarantees them a place in Heaven, and the others have another place to go.

There are some things wrong with the Christian faith, as well as other faiths:
As much as it tries to be a good, moral foundation for one's lifestyle, it's had its shady past. This includes the Crusades, and various missionary work where people had Christianity forced upon them (like the Native Americans). It also has this stigma of having 'holier-than-though' members that try to impose their agenda on society. Not every member is like that though, although those ones certainly do get attention. They also interfere with science, i.e. stem cell research. The stem cells in question are obtained when during test tube baby creation, the extra embryos are discarded, those ones would be used for research. They're already going to be destroyed, why not put them towards the cause of science?

True belief, Faith in the Scripture, and obedience to the Scripture has no fault. However churchianity does not reflect that belief. Consider the crusades, the inquisition and the various other abominations done in the name of "Christianity". Romans 2:24 tells us that the name of YHVH is blasphemed among the heathen because of believers.

Christ repeats the Old Law and says Love God with your heart, soul, and strength and love you neighbor as yourself.
It is not the faith that is deficient, but many of its followers. Including myself. The World judges Christ by how his followers act.
If we grew up a little, we would show the true Light of Christ and not a Light filtered through our own agenda, prejudices, and beliefs.

I'm not against christians - I just want them to stay out of my government.
And it IS possible to be a moral person without believing in some dusty old book of short stories, or invisible people in the sky!
