I had the same problem with my VCR. It used to play, fast forward, rewind, play etc when I was no-where near the control (in fact, it would come on when I was watching TV, not a video). Lots of other strange things were happening like the radio switching on and off in the night and the microwave switching on itself. I did some research and found the house I was living in was built on ley lines. Sounds like it could possibly be a poltergeist. Eventually I had to move as it was freaking me out. I just hope you're renting the house. Good luck !!!

Try yanking the batteries out of the remote. Could be the power button is starting to mess up on it. If the tv still does it, it could be the power switch on the tv, a circuit sensing a problem, something inside overheating, or a power supply starting to go bad. I'm surprised a 3 year set would go bad, but then again, we had problems with ours after only 3 months. At least it was a warranty fix.

Before you throw the tv away turn the tv on as normal and then remove the batteries from the remote control as I suspect the remote may be giving out false signals.
It may also be a sonic remote and someone else near you has a similar tv and yours is picking up the signal.
Or it may be picking up a wireless doorbell signal or other device local to you.
Please dont even think of ghost or Poltergeists , will you lot get a life.
Good Luck

This sounds like a heat problem. I'd check the internal power adapter first. Then, I'd check the diode which sits across the power switch. This diode allowed a small amount of power to go to the unit which is why the TV's these days come on so quickly. It may be that once the full power comes on, this diode is cutting out and causing the power to be shut off.

With gas injection, in case you'd be behind schedule through a jiffy, positioned the transmission in park. if it is going to be longer than a jiffy, you could close the engine off. gas injected automobiles do no longer 'waste' gas once you close up an engine off and then commence it lower back up. The engine is warmth and there is not any extra gas being dumped into the cylinders. when you're waiting on the interstate for a damage to get cleared, close the engine off. Any TIME an engine is sitting and idling, no longer transferring, it is a waste of gas.

You obviously have some paranormal activities in your house. Or your tv. might be haunted. Call another engineer and get another opinion, or go back where you bought the tv from and ask for information. There must be a manufacturer's manual as well, which may contain a website that you can check out. Or call them.
