Yes. One night, several years ago, a girl came to my house claiming to have been raped and asked us to help her. Her hair was full of weeds and her arms and legs were scraped and scratched and her clothes were a mess. She was carrying what looked like either a huge purse or overnight bag. We tried to get her to let us take her to the hospital but she said no, all she wanted was to get cleaned up and try to find a way home, which was about 60 miles from my house. We told her not to worry, that we would take her home. We let her take a shower and even gave her some clean clothes to put on. We took her home, even stopping on the way to buy her food because said she hadn't eaten in 2 or 3 days and was hungry and when we got back, we realized that while she was in the bathroom taking a bath, she had stolen all my makeup, a gold chain, cologne and some of my jeans..We later found out that she hadn't been raped but had broken into our neighbor's home and they had come home while she was still inside it and the only way she could get away was to jump out a window below which, there were a lot of rose bushes and shrubbery, which turned out to be why she was scratched so badly. To say that I was mad would be an understatement. I went the next morning and had a warrant issued for her.but they were having a hard time finding her because she had found out about the warrant for her and was hiding. A few weeks later, I was reading the newspaper and there was an article about a man and woman that had been busted at a motel not far from us for drug trafficking and prostitution. It was that same girl and her boyfriend. When I read that, I called the jail and talked to a lady I knew that worked there. I asked her if they had her personal effects there and she said they did. I described several items that she had stolen from me and was told that many of those same items were in her personal effects.. She let me come to the jail and go through her things and I found most of the things that she had stolen from me, including the gold necklace. That was all the evidence I needed. From there, I went to the D.A.'s office and he immediately got started on an indictment for the girl. He told me to write down everything she had taken from me and the price I had paid for each item including the clothes we had given her to change into after her shower, the cost of the time and gasoline to drive her 60 miles home and the return 60 miles back, plus the cost of the food we had bought for her. They had set her court date for ALL the charges against her, the theft of my property plus the charges for prostitution and drug trafficking. When we went to court, she was given the choice to either pay for the items she had stolen from me or she would go to jail until I WAS paid. Some guy that was with her paid me right there and then. But the thing that really made it all worth while was immediately after paying me, they called her up to answer to the other charges against her and she wound up going to jail ANYWAY that day !!
Sorry this was such a long story but I just had to tell it.

I don't think so, I've been lucky. My mom on the other hand had a necklace stolen by a gypsy girl when she was a little kid in Europe. The girl showed her the necklace and ran off.

When I was in my 20's, my room mate I think stole my ice skates and a vase. She used to always sneak into my room and use my powders and colognes. Oh yeah, also had my bicycle stolen and was a victim of debit card fraud.
