Bush stated in his speech 2 nights ago that he is starting an all volunteer civilian corps. Will any of you volunteer? And do you support this war in Iraq?

I will not be signing up at this time since I have to finish school.
How about yourself?
edit: I don't support the way this war is being run. Why can't the US seem to fight wars and win them? Why do we have to restrain ourselves from victory? Is this what Vietnam was like?
I support the fight against terrorism wherever that may lead us.

Given his abysmal track record with managing the war effort in Iraq, I certainly wouldn’t want to enroll myself in any enterprise that he is starting. So no I would not volunteer for his civilian corps. His track record is absolutely terrible with respect to any movement or organization that he has founded, whether it Homeland Security or his “Faith Based Initiatives.” I am almost certain this civilian corps will also be as monumental a failure as his prior efforts.
As to the second question, concerning the support of the war, I have to say that I vehemently oppose this war, and I opposed it before it ever started. It has nothing to do with the broader war on terror, and it is merely being used as a device to reap profits at the expense of Iraqi lives and the lives of our servicemen.

Didn't Bill Clinton propose something such as this in the 90s? To help pay for college loans and so forth?
Didn't Conservatives at the time think it would somehow ruin the country? What's changed in 10 years? Just the messenger? Why do Republicans hate Democratic ideas unless it's a Republican who brings it up?
And since Hallitburton bus drivers are making $10,000 a week, how much is the job paying?

I wonder why we call them volunteers when they get paid and recieve education money. I can't figure out whether it's a way to elevate the soldier or make the government less responsible for sending them to possible death.

If you could only see me laughing at this question. I had to double check my ears when I heard that one Tuesday night. If the President believes so strongly about his liberation of Iraq, why is he not instituting the draft? I didn't vote for him and I certainly am not going to volunteer for his meat grinder. How in the world is he expecting to enlarge the military recruits without a draft. I think he should share whatever it is he is smoking with the rest of America.
