The other night I had an awful nightmare that I'm still thinking about, which involved shooting and killing loads of monsters that eat people, loads of blood and guts spewing everywhere. I rarely have nightmares and have never had one so violent, it was really vivid and I was really freaked out!

Is it normal to have very violent dreams?

used to have alot of dreams involving blood, weapons, barbed wire, razors and such,, i dont watch tv or read the paper anymore and havent for years. when i did i would watch it "delayed" so i could skip everything from the media, commercials etc and just watch what i wanted. my dreams havent been that bad for some time now.

Yeah. Mine was similar to yours, but worse as my family was being killed. It took me awhile to realise I had that dream because I have been dealing with many deaths in my family and thus had that nightmare.

Violent dreams are not very common, but when they happen they can be terrifying. Dreams are usually less violent. It's all right, don't think too much about it. It's all just a phase of life (:

Yes I have and yes it is. Dreams are your mind's way of using up thoughts and information that are left over from your waking hours. Sometimes, the imagery has meaning, sometimes not. Don't worry about one isolated dream. If you start having it very often and you haven't been watching violent movies, you might seek a professional to talk to.

Often nightmares are caused by stress, traumatic experiences, emotional difficulties, drugs or medication, or illness. However, some people have frequent nightmares that seem unrelated to their waking lives. Recent studies suggest that these people tend to be more open, sensitive, trusting, and emotional than average

Yes. Everything you say, do or think lies in the "storage" of your Subconscious Mind. This "information" generally comes "out" in dreams, or when you are very relaxed in some way. You might have seen something disturbing at sometime, and it just "came out" in a dream. Nothing to get excited about.
