Do people in government (UK) have to pay taxes????

Yes they do pay taxes just like you.

An MP earns about £60,000 a year. His allowances on top of that can come to over £100,000 and are used to pay staff, buy computer equipment and generally set up and run an office so that they can deal with constituency correspondence.

Ministers earn about another £50,000 as well as the basic £60,000.
