So you could write the names of the kids on them with a marker. But has anyone heard of other ways parents keep track of which baby is which?

I painted one toenail on one of mine. But seriously you can tell. Everyone is amazed that I know who is who, but since I am with them all the time I can just tell in their eyes as crazy as it sounds. There personalities are so different too.

My husband is an identical twin. His mom painted his brother's toenail. That was the only way to tell them apart for a long time. However, the mother will just know after awhile.

You can paint the big toe with a different colored polish.

You can give a different colored (baby safe) bracelet.

After a while, as your twins grow, you'll be able to tell them apart and not need any markers.

Two things that were already suggested were also in the book I've read, "The Multiple Pregnancy Sourcebook."

You can paint a single toenail a different color or you could dress them in a color-coded fashion. Just be sure not to refer to them by their color, but by their name. The color is to help you in the early days of knowing which is which.

a good friend of mine has identical twins....she always knew from the beginning who was who. to help out her family and friends she color coded her kids, she would buy 2 outfits that were the same in different colors and each one of them had a designated set of colors they wore. by the time they were about 3 months old though it didnt matter anyone who was around them alot could tell who was who because even at that young age they developed very different personalitys.

I've had a couple of sets of identical twins...uh, I mean dated a couple of sets of identical twins. They are alike in a lot of ways, but you can tell the difference.

Some parents paint their toenails/fingernails different colors.
Little yarn bracelets tied around their wrists/ankles in different colors.
Write the child's name on his/her diaper.
If girls, have their ears pierced with different studs.
Always put "twin A" on the left and "twin B" on the right.
Have two different car seats/swings/bouncy seats/etc. instead of 2 of the same pattern and always put the same child in the same seat.
