There are lovely poems by various authors on the net . The Shakespearean Sonnets are but a few ... Another favourite is The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran ... Alternatively , try to sit down and let your thoughts flow .... Think of your happiest moments together ... write them down and cast them into a poetic form ...

just try and put what you think about him and you and how the little things get you. also don't expect your first poem to touch him you have to go real deep and you'll know exactly when he loves it.bsides a poem is your appreciation or deception on a certain thing anything u write you will appreciate.

Compare him to powerful things (e.g volcanoes and fire,)
Make yourself inescapable from him power, you were defenceless, make him remember his instincts to protect you waaaay back in caveman time.
Also, he will appreciate your poem even more just because of the effort, and, which he probably will do, he knows your not that good at writing poems so the finished result will make him love you even more!! Dont worry about it! He'll love it! :P

The first time i met you
when your eyes met mine
i knew we would be together
for a long long time
The first time you kissed me
when your lips met mine
it felt like heaven and tasted of wine
The first time we made love
i thought that i would die
i looked up at you in wonder
and saw the look of love in your eyes
I love you so much
i'll love you forever
To many more years
we'll spend together.

Love begets powerful imagery in poems. Try relating his best qualities in images, compare his loving gaze to the picture it creates within you, describe the effect it has on your body or soul. Define what attracts you to him most and relay it in word pictures. Tell him how his poetry makes you feel, desire to be his muse, compare him and the love he creates within you to music. Most of all, no matter what your vocabulary or grasp of words--don't try to be too "fancy" just be yourself and allow the words to flow honestly and they will find a rhythm on their own. Believe in yourself, don't think you're not good at something by comparing yours to the works of others. Poetry is an art for all who endeavor to put words on a page and each of us has our own muse. The beauty of a poem is its individual personality and every creation you attempt will carry within it the echo of your own beautiful self.

to take you away
would end my life in a day
i would pay any price to keep you to stay
to the world i am oh so small
but you make me feel the best of all
your love is my life
your trust is my soul
you complete me
you make me whole
if you were to leave
if you were to go
my life would never be full
i never thought i would fall in love
you are an angel from above
i am your servant
my heart does your bidding
my soul delights in you grinning
i love you don't go away
i love you but i won't make you stay
