I did a presentation today and there were comments that I talk too fast and don't look straight ahead at the class. My information in the presentation is fine, I just want to be prepared for college and improve as much as I can. Are there any tips on what I can do to help my public speaking?

I think its all about being relaxed, looking confident (even if you dont feel it!). Your body language can play a big role in how you come across, standing tall with your shoulders back can help portray a positive image.

I always find trying to talk really slowly, clearly and above all loudly helps me, because when your under pressure you tend to talk much faster and quiter. Anyway I hope this helps a little, I hate public speaking but its something I want to improve too! And if all else fails, do what Homer Simpson does and picture all the crowd naked!!

As a public speaker and a speech instructor i visit grant you 3 concepts. First, comprehend that public speaking is the quantity one worry of human beings so the actuality you do it makes you astonishing. 2nd, pick subjects you rather have self belief in and have an interest in. otherwise we are only questioning while they are going to locate out we are pretending to care. 0.33, in basic terms tell the story. do no longer memorize it. Get to the nub of it and tell those human beings why what you ought to declare is important. finally, did I say 3? properly, 4 is you purely did the main necessary component a individual can do. You asked the thank you to grow to be a extra advantageous speaker. you have it!

Well u do onething,when u make a public speech.
Make an imagination in your mind whenever u steer or have a glance at anyone from the public in front of u as if they are are not them but any one of the guy u r very comfortable to speak with. For eg.imagine your mom.dad,friend.etc.amongst the public. U will surely make a better speech next time.
Have a nice time.

1. pick a spot in the back of the room, like a clock, and focus on that...you don't have to make eye contact w/ anyoneand it still looks like you are looking at them...

2. practice in front of a mirror or in front of friends or family...

3. video tape yourself and watch it later...

4. relax...

5. be confident...

the only way to get better at public speaking is to do it...some people have a knack for it, some people never get comfortable with it but they don't let it show

Take deep breaths and slow down... practice in front of a mirror and see what you are doing... record part of your speech and then listen to it to make sure you aren't going to fast... get others to help you with practice speeches and you will improve...

you might try taking a "public speaking" class... most colleges offer, and require one.

If you're going to college, you'll probably be required to take a speach class, so just get it on your class schedule earlier rather than later. Also, many colleges offer non-credit classes in this area and for the truly motivated, joining Toastmasters is the way to go.

When you giving a speech, put a card in on the podium in front of you that says "SLOW DOWN." Also, to become a good public speaker, you need to do a lot of public speaking.

I have that same problem i'd talk so fast that sometimes i'd forget what i said so when i spoke in front of people i had my friend sit in the last row in the center and stared at him. i even asked him to make funny faces funny enough to make my smile but not laugh and it works eveytime cause all i do is imagine i'm talking to him and no-one else matters except for when i'm done and everybody is clapping

Just keep doing it. Try to overcome your fear. It's common knowledge that lots of people don't like/aren't great at public speaking. Take a public speaking course, it couldn't hurt... As long as, despite your fear, you keep trying and keep getting up in front of people and you're willing to listen to feedback, you'll get better.

record yourself and listen to it, and practise (in front of a mirror is good). be very careful while you talk because it's common for people to talk faster during the real performance.
