Because the grass always seems greener on the other side of the fence. Then we get to the other side of the fence and we realize that it's not what it appeared to be.

Definitely the thrill on the chase. And the great feeling of conquest when we get it. But b/c the reason why we wanted it is primarily stemmed on a wrong motives our expectations are unrealistic, so out trophy doesn't meet it, so we lose interest.

Humans are natural hunter gatherers. Its true for not only relationships and guys, but for cars and houses and cellphones and tv's. Its not even the thrill of the chase really, I think its more the wanting it, and then when you have it you want something else, which make you "forget" about what you have.

I wish I knew the answer to that question !!! I do somehow think that we don't actually give 'what we've got' a chance to also be 'what we want' though - we somehow get what we want and then THINK that we don't want it anymore - but somewhere down the line we look back and think to ourselves - 'why was I so syupid - why didn't I see what I had' ?

We are a society that isn't happy with themselves alot of times. We always want more, or something different because we think that will bring us happiness, but it usually doesn't because happiness comes from within, not from outside changes. If people honestly worked on within themselves they would be happy in any situation.

Because you got it, that's why. We live for the chase, not the catch. Human nature, I think.
