This is simple Algebra.
Let's begin with adding x+x. Because x is by itself it would not change at all. This means, x*1 would still be x. So if the equation is x-2x, then you would consider the x to be a 1x. After this step it's simple addition or subtraction
1x-2x (just take out the x's) what's 1 minus 2?
The answer would be: -1
Throw an x behind that -1 and it is now -1x, but because 1*x is x, you don't actually need to leave the number there. The answer then would be: -x (Don't forget your negative(-) sign)
In this case, you are using -4x+5x. Just do as done above.
-4+5 OR because the 5 is positive and the 4 is negative it could be switched around and the equation will be more understandable. 5-4 is now the equation.
Again, simple math. The answer is: 1
Throw the x on behind the 1 and because 1*x is x, you can leave off the 1.
So the simplified version would be x by itself. It's all just simple addition or subtraction.

Since they are both x terms, there is no need for two of them. You can combine the two x terms. You add -4 to 5, and you get 1. You simplify them to 1x or just plain x.
