how can i decompress an excel read only file using winzip.?

I am trying to put information into the spreadsheet ; it is a book companion site template. Thanks for the help

Open winzip, navigate to the zipped file, open it, and you'll see it in the winzip window. Select the file(s) you wnat to de-compress, and then then 'extract' (winzip terminology) it to where ever you want.

If the file is read only tho, how will you add info to it? You can't if it's read-only, unless you have privelages to change the read-only status.

A Zipped file can be unzipped in Windows XP or by using winzip which is installed properly. Simply double click the file and the zip will open in a new window. Copy the files you want from the Zip window to an uncompressed (zipped) folder on your hard drive.
