I've stored my car for almost 2 years. You should cover it and add Sta-Bil Fuel Stabilizer in that you can get at your local auto parts store.. Just remember to prime the oil pump before starting it. You don't want to start it with no oil in the top end of the motor.

When I got a job in Europe (I'm from the US), I had someone drive it once a week--just down the road a bit and back. That keeps the fuel lines moving and not freezing, it keeps the tires from getting dry rot, and it basically makes the movable parts "remember" to move.
If you really have to store it, there's something with draining the gas tank...you'll need to call a local mechanic if you can't have someone drive it down the block once a week. That is the easiest way of maintaining it. Remember to have someone pay your personal property taxes and and it inspected (if necessary in your area) and get the new tags. I had all of these things taken care of but the person FORGOT to affix the new tags and my 2nd day back in the States, I got pulled over. There's a lot more to consider than just parking it.
Hope you're storing it for a happy reason!

To keep it simple...change oil, fill gas tank up and add some stabilizer, buy 4 cheap jack stands and put the car up on them (all four wheels off the ground), remove the battery, and cover the car (if garaged) with old sheets, as that will allow air to come through and not retain moisture, yet keep dust off.

lift it off the ground if you wanna save the tires.. if its out in the weather open a window just a 1/8 of an inch or so to allow the heat to escape during sunny days be sure to change the oil and coolant when you come back to it...

1. if u can get someone to turn it on every month or so it's the best.
2. if not, disconnect battery
3. empty oil, u dont want it to dry and precipitate in your engine
4. proper cover of course, to protect paint.
