I also love my coffee. I have drank coffee through all of my pregnancies. I'd die with it lol. Just try to limit it to 2 or 3 cups a day. Most doctors/books agree that that is safe. If we avoided everything they told us not to eat or drink we'd die of starvation lol

I like to drink tea which has caffeine in too so know where you're coming from. My midwife advised:
- Buy some decaf - the best you can afford. Decaff coffee is almost as good as the real thing these days. I have a brand called 'cafedirect' and you can't really tell the difference. Look on the pack though as there are two methods of decaffination - one uses water and the other artificial chemicals. It is better if you drink products which use the water method and the most expensive brands will and say so on the packaging.
- Cut down. One or two cups per week is not going to have any effect so treat it like a treat for you.
- Drink a litre of water before you have the coffee. Apparently this will dilute it and lessen the effect.
- I drink hot chocolate more now and milk shakes as I can't stand those fruit teas. A milky cappaccino will have a lot less caffeine in that regular coffee so if you are going to have one a week make it one of those, then you get the benefit of the milk too.
I sympathise. There are quite a few things you suddenly have to give up and given your hormones are all over the shop it seems so unfair - but worth it I am sure!

Coffe is not that good in pregnancy. You need to let go of it but not all the time. To have a cup every now and then would be fine. I am not too sure either that decaff coffee is fine to drink. So ask yuor doctor! Good luck!

According to my gynaecologist when I was pregnant a year ago, I also drinked a lot of coffee, but 2or 3 cups a day would not do harm. I also tried caffeine-free, that's a good option, i have a beautiful, healthy, babygirl now.

You aren't supposed to. The caffeine isn't good for them. Once when i was pregnant I went to starbucks and meant to order a decaf coffee and forgot and ended up with a regular and I did not get any sleep that night! I wasn't even finished with my coffee when my son started rolling around and moving like crazy. My friends were over at my house and they could see him through my shirt moving around!

Too much caffeine isn't good for your baby. If you like to drink coffee try switching to a decaffeinated coffee.

You can have 3 cups of coffee per day. No more than that, though. My doctor said 3 cups a day is fine.

try caffine free substitutes or just cut down your intake of regular coffee, its not harmful as such but can hinder the growth of your unborn baby.
