try making large floor size pillows in the shape of baseballs basketballs footballs... they are great for napping and will last as the child grows. You might paint murals on the walls if you can paint. hockey sticks can make great curtain rods for tab top curtains. soccer goals can be used instead of a headboard with a twin sized bed. used basketball hoops make great clothes hampers when you make a long net for it. The clothes can just be tossed in. makes picking up clothes fun! you could decorate shelves, benches,or toy boxes with sport themed pre-pasted wall paper borders. just have fun with it.

When I was young, my mom taught me how to latch-hook. It's a way of making rugs or wall hangings from yarn pieces with a simple hook. You can get kits with instructions at a craft store (Michael's, Hobby Lobby). Once you know what you're doing you can make your own designs. They make good gifts and once you get your groove it's very easy to do while watching TV. It keeps your hands busy and creates something useful. I also like the idea someone threw out there about bracelets or other types of braiding. That's fun too. But if you want something that will take more time to complete, latch-hook might work for you. Holding the hook and doing that kind of hand work easily led me to crochet later on in life - and crochet is more challenging but makes lots of fun stuff. Latch-hook could be a good choice for you - give it a try!

Paint a net on one wall. Paint footballs, baseballs, soccer balls, etc in the air going over the net.
If it's for girls, paint ballerinas, or pink shoes. Maybe there are stencils for this.
