In my opinion, going into treatment is a good option for people that do need help, but going to treatment to just shift the blame and avoid the consequences of their actions or behavior, is not a good thing.
Yet more often then not, we are seeing celebrities use rehab to get a handle on their image, not their demons.
Addiction is an explanation, not an excuse. Treatment is a way to find help, not a way to excuse bad behavior.

I agree with you- Jeff Conoway is my favorite rehab member on the show. I thought he was fu**ed up on Celeb Fit Club a few years ago, but WOW! he needs this therapy or he might die!! It's odd how he can be fine one minute, then acting like a suicidal toddler the next!! If I wasn't picking a rehab member, my absolute favorite on the show is Dr. Drew. He is SO hot and so intelligent!! Did you see how good he looked in those jeans and tight T-shirt in last Thursday's episode? WOW!! Overall, I think this is a great show and very eye-opening!

They only do it because it's a good PR move. Remember Kate Moss, caught sniffing the showbiz sherbet and she pops into rehab. Pete Docherty also and yet he's back on drugs. It sends the wrong message and takes the place of somebody who really wants help. All I can say is if you take drugs you should consider that a stint in rehab will set you back about £10,000, which normal people don't have.

All I have to say is come on! I don't see why rehab is necessary when everyone says bad things all the time! If I were a celebrity I would be in rehab everyday! Who knows next time we might hear Lindsay Lohan going to rehab because she called Paris Hilton a b***h.

Hmmm....I think it's a little of both. First and foremost though, being to salvage their career and image. They figure if they admit to having a "problem", people will be more likely to say, "Oh, ok, he has a problem", rather than "He's just a homophobic or racist". So, I guess the main reason is to salvage their image and then hopefully they will get help and not repeat what they did or said. You know what's in your heart comes out in the weirdest ways, you know what you really think will eventually come out. So, I hope they get the help they need.
But, they wouldn't of went to get help unless something came out to jeopardize their career, so yes, it is just an excuse!!

Yes. It is just their way of copping out.
If someone had made a racial slur about Isaiah Washington, their career would be ruined.
Double Standards.

Interesting theory!! I never looked at it that way... and I think that I am gonna have to agree with you... or it could be using re-hab for when there is too much heat on them IE: Kate Moss get photographed doing loads of coke... all her contracts drop her... she goes into re-hab... heat died down a bit... she is out and makes more cash than when she first went in... maybe I should go into re-hab- *lol*

Going to rehab after they did something stupid is a good PR. But they might be some genuine cases, we'll never know.

the majority of celebs who check in to rehab are using it as an excuse. they seen unable to cope with eveyday problems and run to rehab, and blame it on drink/drugs.
