There are lot of variations available in the Market. One thing you should look for is the refresh rate of the monitor. Every brand has LCD's with refresh rates from 14 ms to 6 ms. So it imples that 6ms monitor would be costlier than 14 ms monitor.
And the LCD's which you get cheap are generally analog monitors. If you want to be future proof and want to play fast moving games and watch movies go for a monitor with less than 8ms rating and a digital one.
I would recommend View Sonic.

LG lcd monitor is the best monitor. because LG company performens in the best qullaty productes in all over world .I have a Lg monitor .it is the best. ok

they all are expensive, coz of their brand name, and i'll include a recomendation for each model and its link for you to see the monitors pictures and or reviews, use them wise and make the right decision, i've chosen the averaged price ones, not the lowest or not the highest. depending on your budget you may wanna go high!
LG- is one of the best you cud see eva, great contrast and image.

Viewsonic- best for monitor, for years and years to come, they always had vivid, sharp, beautiful colors. after having a viewsonic and getting bored of it, i just bought a widescreen from a non-famous brand name in america, but which is famous in korea and viewsonic use their panels on their product.

my current pannel is called "Chimei CMV 939D" a newly arrived widescreen and sure you'll thank me if you bought it and try at home. I love the slim border, and thats the reason i bought it for, but never regreted abt the quality, since it gave me more contrast than viewsonic and faster response time of 5ms.

both offer nice graphics high contrast ratio.....
