and how does it affect their husbands?

The reason that all people get heavier after marriage is that they settle into a routine and are no longer thying to impress the other. It is common until both realize it then it is an up and down issue that gets addressed, fixed, and then back again.

Because they start eating like their husbands do lots of carbohydrates and heavy dinners. It also has to do with getting older and a slowing metabolism. Then there is the pregnancy excuse, so many women eat like horses during pregnancy and blame the weight gain on pregnancy and instead of working out to lose that weight, they use the excuse for the rest of their lives! In reality one only needs a few hundred extra calories a day during pregnancy and does not need to become a blimp and it is NOT an excuse.

How does it affect their husbands? Well, I'm sure that a lot of husbands find their wives less attractive sexually or their wives become insecure about their bodies and frequency of sex drops to a record low.

EDIT: The only birth control that is proven to cause signifigant weight gain is the depo-provera shot. Blaming 'the pill' is a lazy woman's excuse.

No need to impress anyone, and the husbands usually gain too! it's a sign of contentment, and the husbands shouldn't say or think anything just be happy your married and living life together, soon you will both be old and ugly and it's what's on the inside that counts and the sweet little thoughtful ways you show to each other everyday making life a Little nicer for each other....enjoy.

Not all women do I have not bet even if i did my husband would still love me anyway as he loves me for my inward beauty and not just the shell that he sees outside... It also is not only women that gain weight after marriage ... Alot of men get heavier as well... My husband gains wait at times and gets heavy but he and i still work out together and go for walks and we get in shape together... I still love him with or without the extra weight... Looks are only temporary as they fade over time anyway but it is inward beauty that shines through and is what lasts.... You can be married to a very beautiful person whos beauty is only on the outside but their heart and inward beauty is ugly and nothing to be desired and they are mean and nasty and self centered....

Not all women do. None of my friends that are married have gained weight. Most of them, including me, are smaller. Our husband, though, are heavier. My husband wants me to gain back some weight (I'm 5'5" and 122).

Wouldnt say that most woman do that , but it has happened, im sure. It happens because for several reasons. 1- they dont have time to exercise or stay in shape, their busy taking care of the kids and husband. 2- they get comfortable and dont feel they need to impress the man anymore, or forget what attracting him to her in the first place. 3- they get older. What happens to the man? He usually gets fatter also.

I think that most of the time it is because they have children. Which not only changes their bodies during pregnancy, but in the upbringing women generally are the ones to deal with feeding children. It is just a matter of what's laying around.
