Hi there
Hmm..so, ready to say adieu to the old bulky desktop PC??
There are certain things that you shud consider b4 buying a notebook.
Laptops come in diff configs n prices...
>It usually depends on how u would be using'em.
--If u r a student u wouldn'd be needing a wide screen or high processor macho .n yes if r a gamer..do not compromise on RAM n Processor.
--If u r working, say as a designer or a professional, u would like to have wide screen, wid lots of RAM n yes an agile processor.
>U can't open n tweak ur laptop
-Make sure that ur laptop manufacturer has enuf aftersale services.
>It doesn't matter which brand u choose.
--Almost any brand wid good config shud do the job.
--But if u r loyal to a specific brand (in ur case ACER), make sure u get ur deal right.
>A killer combo (irrespective of brand name) would be:
a. 512+ RAM.
b. 3ghz of processor speed.
c. Atleast 40gb HDD.
b. Easy maintenance.
>INTEL or AMD??
--It doesn't really matter..
>ACER?
Well, mayb ur friend is right..
a .Acer laptops r affordable.
b They have good aftersale services all over.
Hope u got what u were looking for..
Happy Hunting..
Cheers!!

Toshiba and Hewlett-Packard are good choices that offer pretty decent options on their laptops. As to which is the better processor, both are good. The Toshiba and HP websites have comparison charts illustrating which laptop has which processor. You can tell which one you'll need by the applications they run. Good luck.

If you don't care about $$ then go for alienware, they are costly but good for gaming and other heavy processing stuff....
otherwise
HP is the best brand , go for Intel processors,
I have a HP Pavilion 5177 and i am happy with it :)

If you are using it as a mobile computer and handling it in dangerous breakable instances ,
i have one for travel, most computers have the identical ability but but its not the computer i praise it is the warranty 3 years complete replacement even if it is dropped or broken in a mishap, cost of the insurance 300. for three years.
when you spend as much as two grand and it ends up being a piece of junk or an anchor for your boat, i feel it just isn't worth buying a laptop, but with the three year unconditional warranty it doesn't hurt when you bust it up. they first try to repair it but if it is impossible it is replaced without any problems.

In India, HP is the best. They have many outlets.
I've a HP pavillion dv 2000 series notebook. quite happy with it.
you can get some goodies too.
if cost is not a factor, go for intel core duo.
i've a core duo 1.6, 512 MB Ram
**IMPORTANT** Wait for windows vista. buy in late feb/march, otherwise you will buy xp like me.. :-p

Forget the Brands
checkout what features you need and which brand falls closest to your requirements. A few thousand give or take makes little difference.
