Account Executives are like salespeople and managers at the same time. You get new accounts, by selling them on your firm, and then manage their account or even pass it along to an account manager in some cases. A lot of large adveritising and marketing firms hire Account Execs to work on 1 or 2 large accounts, and once those accounts are gone - you're out of a job. But the money is good while it lasts, usually a base between 30-45k based upon experience and then commissions.

The Account Executive oversees the account for the client. The salary depends on the city where you live. An Account Executive in New York City is going to make more than one in Dallas or other market.

An account executive executes accountants.

Who cares about the money - I'd do it for nothing.
