take some old GRUDGY PANTIES because you will bleed so much for the day or so after that no pad can hold it. don't take your nice jammers because you are bleeding alot and will leak. After a day or 2 (basically when you get discharged ) you'll bleed less and can not worry about leaking as much. take some SOCKS in case your feet are cold, some TOILETRIES (shampoo, soap, deoderant, toothpaste) a DISPOSIBLE CAMERA in case you forget your good one, some EXTRA BATTERIES for the good camera, NURSING PADS even if don't want to nurse because you will leak as you dry up, a NURSING BRA if you are going to nurse (and wear it all the time, day and night, your breast will need extra support) , AN OUTFIT FOR YOU to go home in (bring something at least 2 sizes too big for you pre-pregnancy or a pretty maternity outfit, you will likely not fit in regular clothes for a few days), a whether appriopriate OUTFIT FOR BABY to go home in and a few outfits for the hospital for baby. Also anything you want for the delivery to help you relax, you need not take anything if you don't want to. I took stuff and didn't use it. The hospital will have pads for you, which you may choose to take your own if you are picky (I did), diapers for the baby, wipes for baby, and you will pay for these things even if you don't use them, as soon as they are in your room, there yours. you do not need to worry about flashing people in your hospital gown, wear 2, one with the opening in back then the other with the opening in front, that way if you bleed out you are not ruining your clothes. just some more advice, put your carseat all ready to go in the car now, pack your bag and put it in the car now. You never know when a baby will come early, mine came 5 1/2 weeks early without any warning. Also, you will need to wash all baby's clothes and blankets before he wears them so go wash them now so they are ready. Congrats on the baby!

Well for one I never packed pj's either you bleed most likely after you have a baby and you don't want them ruined! I would bring a robe though (i did) slippers, a change of clothes for when you go home for you (something comfy and big it will take a while to get into your old clothes) Def 3-4 outfits for the baby b/c you will do the pictures at the hospital (bring $$ to so you can buy the first baby pic up to $40 I think was the highest pkg) You may want to bring some lil blankets for the baby even though they have some there its always nice to see things from home. Magazines, def. shampoo/condt,soap, lotion, razor?, makeup if you want it, deodorant (stuff like that you use everyday) See when I had my lil ones I had bought a premie outfit for their pics b/c most of the time you get this cute lil outfit and its HUGE on the baby so that is why i'd make sure you bring a few differ cute ones maybe buy one premie outfit too. The day you leave too of course car seat, blankets and coat (snowsuit) hat stuff like that. Good luck...being a Mommy is the best!!

In my bag I took shampoo and soap because I can't stand the stuff they give you at the hospital. I took my tooth brush and basic stuff like that. I took PJ's but never wore them I was more comfortable in the hospital gown. Also pack what ever your going to wear home and the outfit the baby is going to wear home. Plus a blanket for the baby. Congrats!

I think I over packed and it was terrible looking at my husband run back and forth to the car. lol I suggest you really think carefully about item you REALLY need. I suggest
1. Insurance and identification
2. Travel size toothbrush, toothpast, deoderarnt, lotion, shampoo. Hair brush, comb and small makeup case if you wear makeup. I know they say don't worry about how you look but on day of discharge after feeling and looking tired for past couple days I got made up and the nurses walked in the room and said "Wow you look different! It made me feel really good. I looked good, felt good about myself and that confidence rubs off on baby. Total well being. You must also think about yourself.
3. button front or loose top and bottom for hospital stay. I suggest wearing what they provide. It may get soiled with blood.
If you have visitors wear a nice robe.
4. Comfortable outfit for day of discharge. Your body will be slightly swollen. I could not get my feet in my gym shoes. I suggest sandels and some warm socks if you are in winter.
5. I had hospital disposable cotton like underware in my bathroom box. Use them. You will be bleeding and can just throw them awaw. On discharge day I wore my maternity low rise underwear, soft and comfortable. You will be bleeding so soft and comfortable is better.
6. Gum or candy. sugar free is good. When you get to the hospital they will not give you any food. Just water and ice. I found out the hard way. I did not eat much that morning before I was on a trip to the hospital. I delivered after midnight! I was starving but as it turned out that cup of ice was a life saver!
7. Camera/video camera.
8. Small outfit for picture for baby. I had some outfit sized 0-3mths. It was too big for her pics. She wore it anyway. When I got home I found that the premie sizes were a perfect fit. Wish she had a premie size outfits for her pics eventhough she was not a premie. A couple of outfits for baby. They will give you starter kit ie diapers/ wipes for baby to go home with.
9. If you are going to breast fed good luck. I did. Buy Lanolin nipple cream. Your nipples will be sore and tender. My husband had to run to the drug store to get it.
10. Book to keep you occupied before delivery. After delivery you will not need it. You will be too busy looking at the baby and sleeping when you can.
11. Small tablet to write down important info while you are in hospital or questions to ask.
12. Have the car seat in the car.
13. Give your husband your list of important people to call. Everyone wants to know when the big day arrives!
Good luck
