It makes it less stressful for the spouse and kids. It is a good setup if everyone is fair and respects each other. The problem comes about when the spouse that is making the money working outside the home doesn't appreciate all that the stay at home spouse does for the family. It becomes really sad when the spouse that works outside the home has an affair. It is a really big heartache and then everyone suffers because of one spouse being very selfish.

Thank god spring is here. Go out for a walk. How old is your son? If he's old enough, take him outside and toss a ball around with him (even 2 year olds like to play a little ball). If you can't do that, get some sidewalk chalk and take him out and draw on the ground. You have a computer. You can spend sometime with your wife by your side answering questions here or reading. Go to the library take out books. You should start reading to your kid as young as 6 months old. Look, you've run into the trap that TV and advertisers have made most Americans believe - if you aren't entertained every minute of the day, then your life isn't worth living. You have a kid. Be very grateful your life is boring. Boring is what kids need. Good luck.

Yes, I do think that it makes the family life stronger and life a little less stressful.

But being a stay at home mom is NOT a luxury. It is a choice the family makes. They do a lot without, because they don't have a second income coming in.

Generally they have decided which is more important to them - money or family.

I'm NOT saying that either choice is good or bad, btw.

It would all depend on how the stay at home spouse is treated!! Staying at home and taking care of the household is not easy. People tend to treat the stay at homer as a servant. This makes for alot of stress. Having someone taking care of the household can make life much easier. Just make sure there is appreciation and respect there also.

It does make life less stressful if the stay at home spouse wants to stay at home. If not, then the stress could be high.

It is nice to be able to stay home. It seemed harder before I did. Work life, getting up early, staying up late to get the house work done, no time to talk to one another, no time for home cooked meals. We are very happy with the the way things are now. In fact my concern was not having that extra money so I arranged it were I work for a few hours from my home office.
It has worked out great and we are doing better than ever.

No, if my life consisted of cooking, cleaning, taking care of children and watching Dr. Phil I would get severely depressed. If my partner wanted to stay home all day, that would be different, but children are so far out of the question, so what would be the point? I know he doesn't like daytime tv, but he is the one who cooks and cleans most of the time.
