My husband and I like to keep our temp at 60 during the day, and 50 at night, but I'm afraid that it will be too cold for the baby guinea pig I am getting. Any solutions? I don't want to turn the heat up just for a baby pig. :) arum

when building a doghouse for outside i wired up a light bulb inside the house the heat from a sixty watt was enough to keep the large dog warm so place ashaded light bulb next to the habitat and then when you want them to sleep just tape a piece of news paper over the glass or plastic wall but dont let the light get too close to the paper

Make sure your baby pig has lots of bedding in his cage. Make sure he has a little house, you can cover the cage with some heavy towels at night, but you may need to turn up the heat during the day just a little so your little guy can enjoy light, you can also put an old towel in his house so he can sleep under that and keep warm. I would talk to a vet about it though, just so you know for sure how warm the little guy needs to be, cause you don't want him to over heat.

Give the guinea pig extra bedding and make sure it has some sort of shelter in the cage. I give mine extra pieces of tissue and they like to shred it and stick it in their bed for extra warmth. You could also take a hot water bottle, wrap it in a towel, and place it where the baby sleeps so it can have some extra warmth. But honestly, I think the guinea pig will be just fine with plain old bedding.

They make heat rocks and heat pads for terrariums (usually reptiles). Low level of heat , localized so the critter can move to or away from.
A low watt light bulb hung in 1 corner will raise the temp.

we had guinea pigs the whole time i became growing to be up. as long as you have a large number of cedar chips interior the cage the g/p would be waiting to make a deep mattress in it. a towel will additionally help, howeve it is recommended to objective putting it over the whole cage. the g/p won't suffacate. i do a similar issues to the canine/doggy cages.

You could keep it warm by placing it between your legs... if you are concerned about the smell, you can hold the guinea pigs nose.

you need a couple who can snuggle up together ,and a pocket (box)with saw dust, straw or similar ,and they will burrow in there and stay warm as snug as a bug
