Hi Ralph!
DRM is the acronym of Digital Rights Management, and is a system of protection of digital files by their authors.
Is used especially for songs (like mp3) and films, and cuold be read (or heard) only by who pay to their authors the price of that file.
It can't allow who wants to make an illegal copy of that file.

If you want more information about DRM, read thig page on Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Rights_Management

I hope it's a good answer :) bye!

Digital Rights Management, mostly used on digital media, such as eBooks, Videos, Songs, etc.

This means, if you buy these, you also buy the drm limitation. It prevents you do what you want. For example, you can't read Kindle books with iPad iBooks.

But you can remove the drm.

Digital Rights Management

A way of preventing you making copies of (usually music) digital media you've bought the right to use.

Or a way that makes sure that you don't have rights to do what you want with what you bought, that you can't use it on multiple platforms or move it from platform to platform.

it is an evil plan of the Sith, its intent is to deny people the enjoyment and pleasure of listening to *gasp* recorded music. Cant really blame them, we were raised and taught to be capitalist consumers, so the artists Record Corporations can make a profit in perpetuity.
