linus Torvald built it when he was a student in the University of Finland but there are people who claims he is not the original Father of Linux but Andrew S. Tanenbaum is the real father for linux has a lot of lines of similaritys to his software called Minix

The original developer was probably Linus Torvalds but he built on a basic idea that came out of GNU... which was a team effort.
Subsequent to that thousands of people have worked on it.

Linux has written by Linus.
But you know linux is open source, so everybody can change the kernel of linux and make it better.Linux is distributable.
Now there are some linux distributions such as SUSE, FEDORA, UBUNTU ,DEBIAN.
Each of them has it's advantages and disadvantages.
