I would like an all over, even, lasting golden tan......which is the best product/method for this (eg: spray tan@salon)?

:-)

umm good products for self tanning are piz buin mousse/spray or rio home spray tan alternatively you dont have to use the spray tan you can just rub the tanning solution into your skin which looks very natural and beige-ey. anyways before you apply it you should a few exfoliations of the skin beforehand (superdrug do a marvellous exfoliator called vitamin e which smells gorgeous and really does the trick) and then you should apply a moisturiser such as cuticura dry skin moisture lotion to dry skin areas such as the elbows or the ankles!!!

good luck!!

I usually use moisturiser with a hint of tanning cream in it. The tan comes up very slowly so you never have lines and tan marks. (Maybe on really fair skin)

Or when I do use fake tan I go for a well known brand and really rub it in hard and then wash my hands and rub my ankles and knees with a towel as the tan can be really noticeable in these areas.

If I want an instant tan for a special occasion I get a spray tan. Ive have had bad experiences with the stand up shower-like ones so I get one where the beautician sprays it on, I find this is better and more even.

Hope this helps.

Last year i went to a wedding and had to have a spray tan as i looked quite white. i went to a salon to have a spray tan and it looked amazing! personally i would never go for any of the tanning wipes you see in shops because a lot of my mates have done it and to be honest they look so stupid. they end up with really dark orange hands and fingers and the rest of their body looks paler. Some of the gradual wipes are very good. I suppose you just have to try them all and if you end up looking really orange just tell everyone you have chicken pox or something! hope it helps!

Loreal gel is good, i could never find a fake tan that worked on my awkward skin but this goes on brilliantly. Exfoliate lightly before hand but you dont need to moisturise. I also had one of those spray tans for my wedding and it looked brilliant. Try both and see which you prefer.

I would advise you to stay away from that stuff. Usually I think it looks silly on a lot of people, and unnatural. Your natural skin tone is probably the one that suits you best anyway. Plus, pale skin is making a comeback ;)
I can only say, beware of bad blending and fake tan remnants on the palms of your hands and other creases! It's always a bad look...

I use Piz Buin mousse. It doesn't streak and you can build it up gradually. My top tips are to use exfoliant in the shower before you apply and moisturise your knees, elbows and ankles before you apply selftan as it tends to build up too much in these areas. The lotion works as a barrier to stop these parts getting too dark. Also, wash hands thoughly when you're done! To colour your hands, put a few dots on the back of your hands and rub them against one another.

I advise you to listen to blah's response. People spend way too much time trying to change their skin tone and its really quite a drastic change. It always looks unnatural. Honestly, I'm not trying to preach but if you are fair skinned or pale than that is what fits you best. I personally am sort of olive toned but even if I was born pale I wouldn't mind. In old times, people used to bleach their skin to make it as white as possible, sure its strange, but its a compliment to fair skinned people. :)

exfoliate really well first
then put on the self tanner i really like the one from arbonne (http://www.arbonne.com) called made in the shade self-tanner
it also has spf 15 built
put on moisturizer right after this makes it less likely to get streaky
it takes about an hour to show up then you can put on a second coat it you want it darker
and make shure you wait at least 2 hours to get dressed because it can stain clothes
