Seems there are more commercials than ever.

all I know is that a normal hour long TV show is about 40 minutes long without commercials, so that means there is about 20 minutes of commercials in an hour....

and a half hour show is usually around 20 minutes long without commercials...

Time it. I have, and gotten numbers like 33%. Or average it - if TV is broadcasting a movie you know is two hours long, yet on TV it runs for three hours - there you go, approx 33% of the time is used for commercials. Of course, this varies by locality, station, time, the program, and so on.

In Australia commercials average out at 15 minutes per hour. The networks can show more or less in any 1 hour as long as it averages out to 15 minutes per hour.
